THEORETICAL CONFERENCE V:

FASCISM IN THE 21st CENTURY

This theoretical conference will focus on themes relevant to characterizing 21st-century fascism against the backdrop of its historical precedents. By grounding contemporary analysis in these classical forms of fascism, the conference aims to sharpen our understanding of how fascism has evolved while retaining its essential class character and imperialist function.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The Fifth NDFP International Theoretical Conference is about Fascism in the 21st Century. This conference serves as a gathering point for Marxist-Leninist parties, socialist groups and national liberation movements to discuss and systematically share their theoretical views on contemporary fascism in their own country contexts.

This theoretical conference aims to deepen theoretical and historical understanding of fascism as a class phenomenon rooted in the contradictions of imperialism. The conference also aims to discuss the importance of militant mass movements in providing the countercurrent against fascism. In addition, the conference aims to identify principles and strategies that can guide such movements and democratic sectors of society in the struggle to effectively confront and defeat fascism. Drawing from the contributions of Lenin, Stalin, Dimitrov, and Mao, the conference will examine how fascism has developed and adapted in the 21st century both in the imperialist core and in the neocolonial peripheries. In this context, the conference will explore the following themes:

  1. Fascism in the imperialist heartlands and industrialized capitalist countries
  2. Fascism in the neocolonies

These thematic tracks will be explored with a focus on the current-day manifestations of fascism as they arise from specific historical conditions in both the imperialist core and in the necolonies. By grounding contemporary analyses in the historical development of fascism, the conference aims to sharpen our collective understanding of fascism as a class phenomenon and strengthen the revolutionary united front to confront fascism in the 21st century.

In addition to the above, the following suggested themes can also be explored:

  1. Role of the proletariat in counteracting fascism including strategies and tactics for how movements have organized to resist fascism in their respective contexts
  2. Tasks of Marxist-Leninist parties in the midst of rising fascism
  3. New technology as fascist tools of the state
  4. Fascist inroads in international law including growing justification of fascist regimes and the erosion of the international system in the face of rising fascism and intensifying imperialist war
